Catching up...

Ok, I have been a little consumed with making art that I have been neglecting a few things, one being thankful for friends... I have recently been blessed with gifts and wanted to share them with you:

The first one is a Halloween piece from Lori Lundy...I just love this!

 

This next piece is from Krys Kirkpatrick, her and her sister own Bunnie By The Bay, which is located in Anacortes, WA.  There site is http://www.bunniesbythebay.com/.

Also, I made up a few stockings that can hold candy or money...

The size of these are from the top of the wire to the bottom of the foot is 11 x 3 1/4.  I listed these in my etsy.

More Christmas items

Well, I finally was able to upload another batch of Christmas goodies...There are days it seems that this computer takes forever to load items.  I am thrilled that I didn't lose the info. as I have other times.  So, here is what I added to my etsy site:

 This is a composition book that has been layered with vintage papers, paint, images, words and then I used an orginial postcard.  I then coated it with a thin layer of beeswax.

I have to say that I loved the way that this turned out.  By only using a thin layer of beeswax, it doesn't weigh down the book and it gives it a aged look.

 

 

These glass ornaments have been collaged with papers behind them and I also finished off the back, so it can be displayed from either side.

Christmas ornaments

I have been busy the last couple of days making up different ornaments, books, etc.  I have added some to my etsy already.  I still need to add more, but it is time consuming, so I will be adding a few each day for the next couple of days.  I love this time of the year...colors changing, different smells in the air and the feel of holiday spirit in the air.  So, here are a few of the items that I have already added to my etsy:

Finally done....

Ok, I believe I am finally done with my Halloween goodies....well, of course, except what I do for my family that is.  These are the last items that I did and am listing them in my etsy, then it is time to start working on Christmas... Yikes!  Hard to think that Christmas is only 2 months away, where did the time go.  I generally make alot of my Christmas gifts for friends and this year is no different, so I need to start making some and items that need to go in our local shop that I sell in.  Creativity, don't fail me now...lol

   

 

 

Halloween canvas...

I just finished my Halloween canvas...  Every year, I try to do something totally different and this year, I had found this image of this adorable baby and thought that I would give this a try.  I love her chubby cheeks.  I have mounted her onto a 4 3/4 x 6 3/4 canvas that has been painted and layered with vintage papers, playing card, vintage metal door decor. and some other interesting items.  I decided this year to hang it with metal wire instead of a hook on the back.  I love the look of the vintage lace hanging from the bottom.

Trick or Treat

I love this time of year....all the kiddies trying to decide on what costume to wear.  At our house, we still celebrate halloween and even thou 2 are teenagers and 1 is an adult now, they know they can still be a kid here.  I still have  homemade goodies and food on halloween and even thou, they may only be around for an hour or two, I am grateful for that.  So, being that I am pulling halloween decor and items out, I thought that I would make some goodies for the local shop and mine.  So, here is what I have come up with so far...

 

I just love how this turned out.  It is 5 1/2 x 11, this is measured from the top of the wire to the bottom of the blace.  I will be listing this in my etsy later this evening.  I am still working on another halloween project, hope to have it listed by tomorrow.

Well, I am finally home for a while...  I just returned from a weekend art retreat in Connecticut, "Art Is".  This was my first year attending and even thou it is on a smaller scale than what I am use too, I had fun.  I met alot of talented artist and made new friends.  Vendor night was awesome, thanks to JoAnna and Pamela for walking me thru this new venture.  I look forward to many more.  I didn't get much time to go outside, but when I did, oh, the leaves have already changed for Fall and the colors were so pretty. 

I took a 2 day class from JoAnna Pierotti who came in from California to teach this class.  I loved ever minute of this class.  Not only did I learn alot of techniques, but we had a fun group of students in there.  My next class was also with JoAnna, but she team teached with Linda Willis.  I have worked with fabrics for years, but Linda had such a different approach with it, that it opend up my eyes in a whole new direction.  Thanks Linda for all that you shared and then we, took what Linda taught us and JoAnna spent the afternoon teaching us how she assemble her collages onto fabric.  As always, I loved everything that JoAnna had to share.  I have shown below my projects that I did in these classes. 

 

I still have work to do on this project, but I wanted to share with you, what I had done in this class.

Whenever I come home from a retreat, I usually will find something totally different to work on.  This will allow all that I have learn to absorb and allow my creativity to come forth.  So, I am off to work in the gardens for a while. 

Back from Art and Soul

Wow, what an amazing week I had at Art and Soul in Portland, Oregon.  First, if you have never been to Oregon, you are missing out.  My husband is from the East side of the state and it is just gorgeous.  It was great catching up with old friends and making new ones... I had classes for the whole week and each and every one of my teachers were amazing.  Not only were they a wealth of knowledge but very talented artists.  I've pictured images of work that I did there...

  This was in a class taught by Kelly Rae, this was her first convention to teach at and she did an amazing job.  She filled in for DJ Pettitt, who got ill at the last minute.  I loved all of her techniques that she taught.  I still need to finish the face and I look forward to working with some of the techniques that she taught.

  This class was with Nina Bagley.  This was a 2 day class and as always, loved everything that we did in her class.  What an talented artist/lady she is...I love my necklace and look forward to wearing it.

This was a class with Lisa Kaus.  This was an awesome class and I loved everything that we did in her class.  I look forward to taking more of her classes in the future.

This class was with Richard Salley.  I love working with faux bone and all of the wire techniques that he taught us.  It houses a compass on the inside.

  This class was with Stephanie Rubinao, Perching Pixies...what a fun class.  I will be making more of these babies.  You can do so much with the techniques that she taught us.

I took a gourd class, but I mailed home my project as it was too big and fragile for the suitcase...I will post this later.  Also, I took an evening class with Judy Wise on selling your art.  What an amazing lady.  She gave us so many tips and info. on the in's and out's of selling our art in galleries, shops, fairs, etc. along with so many other avenues to pursure.  I look forward to applying some of this to my world.

Well, sorry the pictures are not the best, I am off tomorrow to Connecticut for Art Is.  This is another art retreat, but on a smaller scale, but I still look forward to meeting new people and taking classes from some awesome and talented ladies.  I will also be selling my art on Friday's vendor night.  This will be my first vendor experience.  I have sold in shops, craft fairs, internet, but never at conventions for vendor night.  I look forward to this new adventure and can't wait to share my experience with you.
