I just got back from a weekend class with Misty Mawn that took place at Valley Ridge Art Studio. I have to say this was an awesome class. Not only is Misty an amazing and talented artist, she is kind and sweet. I will definitely be taking another class from her.
I have to tell everyone, that the class was held at Valley Ridge Art Studios and I have done alot of traveling to other parts of the United States to take classes and this is, by far the best place I have ever been to. Not only is this an amazing retreat that you will find serenity and peace, but the view is breathtaking. The owners Bill and Kathy are so gracious with welcoming you and making you feel like you are part of a big family. What makes this so special, is the class size is not huge. You can get more of a one on one with the instructor and you get a chance to actually meet and make new friends with the other students. The studio is huge and everyone has more than enough room to work and they supply you with snacks and beverages during class, but oh, let me tell you, the lunch spread is nothing that I have ever had at a class. You are treated to some awesome food and desserts and the building that we hold our lunches in is cute and personal. As you can see, I can not express enough about this place. I am so looking forward to going back next year. Thanks Kathy and Bill for an amazing weekend.
In Misty class I came away with some awesome background pieces that are waiting for me to finish them. I can not wait to have a chance to work on these. We learned a ton of techniques in her class and she is so gracious and willing to share them to. I wished that I had taken pictures, but I was so enthralled into my work and experiences of the place, that I didn't grab my camera. But, don't worry there will always be next year...
The picture below, is a drawing that I did in her class...Misty taught us how to draw faces and boy is she good at this. I can not believe that I actually drew this and painted it and did it in an hour. With the techniques that she taught, you can really draw faces and paint them. I have also pictured a few of my background painting, I have alot more, but I am currently working on them.
Well, that is all...if you get a chance take a class at Valley Ridge, you will not go wrong with this place.
