For many weeks now, I have been working on a baby book for our first grandson, that is due in a couple of months.
Years ago when I got into art, I wanted to be able to leave a piece of myself for generations to come. Something that they will be able to cherish and see the reflection of who I am and was.
With this in mind, I decided that each of my grandchildren would get a baby book created from me, that incorporated pieces of clothing that their father or mother wore and bits of pieces of the past.
The theme for our grandson is, Elephants. Now, I have been creating books for over 20 years, so making a baby book is not a problem for me, but what I do struggle with, is how to make it more of a kid feel and look.
I knew just the artist/instructor to help me with this issue....Mindy Lacefield. Anyone who has ever seen her work, knows that she is a talented artist in this field. I decided to take a class from her in person and after walking away from two days of creating with her, I felt much more confident. But still wanting a few more lessons in this area, I decided to take an online class from her...wow, is all I can say! I felt that I could make this book and create the look and feel that I saw in my head. Thank you, Mindy for sharing what you love to do with others.
This is one journey that I will cherish for years to come....I not only was able to create a memorable book for our grandson, but it allowed me to tap into my inner child and grow as an artist in an area that I wasn't able to tap into before.
Hours of creativity, work and love has gone into this book. I love knowing that I am able to share what I love to do with the ones that I love.
